I bought this bike trailer yesterday and it was very easy to put together. Easy to attach. Easy to adjust, and my four year old had a blast being able to ride along with me. He was so excited when he got to school this morning the first words out of his mouth to his teacher were,"We got a 2 people bike!".

Family of 6 - This is a piece of JUNK!

We purchased this about a week ago. The first problem we had was with the peddles falling off. We got those as tight as possible and tonight we went for a long family ride and our 4 year old was on the tag along. We were going up a hill and the tag along FELL OFF with our child on it! The pin that holds the Hitch assembly together literally shattered, causing the tag along to lie in the middle of the street. This Hitch assembly comes assembled from the manufacture, so, we know it was nothing we did incorrectly. Target should not have junk like this at their store. We also went to the website for this manufacture and they have already recalled one of their other models. Seems like a trend here.

This bike ruined my four year olds birthday!! First after opening it (in a sealed box) there were numerous scratches and the part that hooked it to the adult bike was missing allot of metal right at the bolt hole ( Bad casting ) I did continue to put it together thinking that we could give it to her and then take it back and get a new one the next day. Then as I went to put the pedals on they didn't fit I think they were for a different bike or the holes were not threaded right !I am a mechanic by trade so its not that I was doing it wrong I understand that the left one is reverse threads Overall this bike is VERY cheaply made JUNK no were near worth the price I cant believe target would sell such JUNK !!

Big problem with wheel bearings

This is actually a Schwinn bike but it doesn't matter as all of them are made by the same company Pacific Cycle (Schwinn Runabout/hitchhiker, Mongoose alley cat, Instep etc and all of them has the same issue. After a short ride the rear starts clicking once per tire revolution and the eventually the wheel locks up. Ours started to make the loud click after about 10 mins going slowly on neighborhood streets. The culprit is the bearing that attaches to the bike chain on the outside and to the rear rim/wheel on the inside. Pacific Cycle must have gotten a rotten lot of them. I read a ton of reviews after having the problem and on all of the above bikes all of them have the same problem. A junky bearing on the rear wheel. Its scary to think how many of them are being returned. Target gave us our money back and were looking at the other Trailer that Target is moving to (Wee). When it did work it was a blast and our 5 year old grinned from ear to ear.

Cheap and Inferior Design

The bike comes in two pieces which does not allow for a straight fit. There is an obvious arc in the frame that makes the bike tilt to one side even when attached to adult bike.
Also, the cranks were too long for my nearly 5 year old tall daughter.
This is not the type of thing that one can save money on. To get something reliable that is comfortable for a child I recommend getting a different bike trailer.

I am only giving this "thing" one star because this review forces you to give at least one star. If it were up to me it would be in the negative range. We have had nothing but problems with our bike trailer since purchasing it. I should have read the reviews before having bought it because we had all the same problems others have had between the pedal constantly falling off and the fact that it is lopsided when riding it. We are so disappointed with it. I don't understand why with so many negative reviews Target continues to carry this product.

Wheel locks up!

We were so excited to get it home and try it the same night... Half a mile down the road the tire started to make noise and then locked up. We had to drag it home. When I tried to return it they said the policy on bikes was no returns. After a lengthy discusion of how I bought it the night before, the manager gave in and let me return it. What a disapointment.

I just emailed Schwinn to give them a chance to explain why there were so many issues with this item. I purchased it in store and the box was bent in several places. That should have been my first clue. Got it home and noticed the frame was scratched in many places too, and they were deep scratches. Yet, you know how it is when you want something so I kept going forward with it. Assembling it was a nightmare. I am quite handy (for a woman :-)) but had to get my handyman neighbor to do so. The joint that attached to the long arm and actual child bike was very ill-fitted and had to be shaved down and banged into place. The seat post was also so bent we had to take a wrench to form it back into place so the seat itself would slide in. Finally got it together!! I was so excited and my little boy was too. We rode it about 2 miles when the wheel completely locked up! I did not see that it had a braking system in the owner's manual, however. I tried very hard to get the wheel to move as my poor son stood there in the heat and watched. Well, we never did get it to roll, so had to drag it back the 2 miles to my house. Eventually it would roll a little bit then lock up again!
I have just emailed Schwinn to give them a chance to explain this. I know bikes since I also used to race them and compete with them for many years. However, this is a mystery to me. A policeman stopped to try and help us and even he could not get it to work.
I am so disappointed and my son is too. Target told me they would take it back but after all the hard work to put it on, I hate to now take it off, but it may end up that way unless Schwinn has a good solution. I give it one star just for the idea of it. Too bad it looked better than it worked.

Missing Parts-Extremely Frustrating!

We just got the bike today....and 2 main bolts and a washer is missing.....I am beyond frustrated.
The only reason I bought this bike instead of the alternative on [another site] was that the other one had several reviews that said they got incomplete parts. I can't believe now I also didn't get complete parts on this one. I would just return it right now to Target I am so mad.

I got this bike and also had to return it because of some scratches. Still we are very pleased with the new one we got. Yes it is not the best bike out there, but for the price range you can't beat it. We haven't had any problems with the wheel or pedals at all. My daughter loves it and so do I. If you have $400 to spare I would recommend the Trek bike better just because you can probably feel safer going at faster speeds. I have put about 50 miles on it. I totally recommend it if you are just putting around town with your kid. I feel a little worried though about the hitch assembly reviews though. Still I believe that Schwinn is a good company and must stand behind their product. Otherwise people would be suing big time I would suppose. Nobody would sell a dangerous design,,, right.
